A COMPLETE FAMILY CHRISTMAS DINNER FOR UNDER 8

Despite concern that the cost of living has soared this year Tesco today announced that it has cut the price of a family Christmas dinner with all the trimmings to an incredible £7.93 – less than the cost five years ago and in 2007.

The incredibly low price means that a family of four can tuck into a traditional dinner consisting of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, sprouts, carrots, gravy, Christmas pudding, custard, and mince pies for less than the price of two portions of fish and chips.

Said Tesco spokesman Jonathan Church: “There is a myth that the cost of serving up a Christmas dinner for all the family is the most expensive meal of the year but Tesco proves that it needn’t be.

“We’ve kept prices low to make sure that a family of four can still enjoy a Christmas dinner for less than the average price of a fish supper for two.

“This means a saving of more than 15 per cent compared to our prices in 2003.”

The Office of National Statistics revealed today that general consumer prices are still 4.5 per cent higher than they were a year ago.

However by making its business more efficient Tesco has been able to continue investing in prices despite some cost increases. The result is lower prices across the store.
