Virgin Media has announced it will be allowing its customers to make free calls to mobiles.

Although only available from Virgin Phone lines to Virgin Mobile customers, this will be important to a lot of people who see landline to mobile calling as prohibitively expensive.

Virgin Mobile launch free* Instant Messenger service

This week, Virgin Mobile, make it even easier for their customers to stay in the loop whilst on the go as they announce the launch of Windows Live Messenger service for their new and existing customers on selected handsets.

Virgin Mobile will provide the service, pre-loaded or downloadable, onto a customer’s mobile, which allows them to interact with all their friends. And it’s free for six months.

Customers can currently interact with different instant messaging websites by downloading software from the web, but they then pay standard data rates to access them over the web on their phones. This new Instant Messenger service is free for six months for participating Virgin Mobile customers.

From 8 December, Virgin Mobile customers can explore the world of the mobile web for just 30p a day (that’s cheaper than a bag of crisps). Virgin Mobile’s new unlimited* mobile internet access rate coincides with an enhanced mobile web portal branded Virgin Media, bringing the world of news, music, video, games and entertainment straight to your pocket.

The 30p daily charge, which is up to three times cheaper than most other networks**, will enable both contract and pre-pay customers to keep in touch with the world more than ever before, and to visit any website.

Virgin Mobile customers can now have the internet in their pocket, where they’ll be able to keep up-to-date on ever-growing social networking sites Facebook, Bebo and MySpace, as well as check email on Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo! Mail and also access the online phenomenon that is YouTube anywhere they go and on a rate that won’t rack up huge bills.

Virgin Mobile has agreed to an exclusive search deal with Yahoo for its four million customers – as it launches its 30p mobile broadband service.

Although it has yet to be seen just how Virgin rolls the deal out across its existing customers, Yahoo will now be the official search partner to the company.

Virgin Mobile this week launches a Ј10 version of the Liberty SIM tariff, which offers 200 minutes and 200. This deal offers more minutes for Ј10 than any other UK network.

With a monthly rate contract (MRC) of between Ј10 and Ј30, and a contract cancellation period of 30 days, Virgin Mobile is giving its customers complete control over how they use their mobile.

London band Imperial Leisure is on the Road to V…

Virgin Mobile’s Road to V in partnership with Sony Ericsson

London band, Imperial Leisure, have landed themselves a sought-after place in the final 14 of Virgin Mobile’s Road to V competition in partnership with Sony Ericcson. Nearly 2,500 bands applied for the annual unsigned talent search – the prize? Opening the V Festival in Stafford and Chelmsford on August 16th and 17th, playing to an audience of thousands and treading the boards with the likes of Muse, The Verve, Kings of Leon, Stereophonics, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy and The Kooks.

Imperial Leisure – a phenomenal ten piece band consisting of a live brass section, keyboards, DJ, two MC’s and a singer, play a blend of hip-hop, ska and rock, -they are set to drum up a storm in this years ‘Road to V’ competition. Playing from the back of their van all over the UK – beaches, shopping centres and car parks they have built up a masive fan base, with their music taking inspiration from The Prodigy and The Madness. Virgin Mobile retains Best Customer Service award for the 8th consecutive year

Virgin Mobile has scooped two prestigious Mobile Choice awards at the magazine’s annual ceremony, held on October 2, 2008 in London.

The network once again had its reputation for industry beating customer service reinforced by winning the ‘Best Customer Service’ award for the 8th year running. Mobile Choice praised Virgin Mobile for the “…quality of its customer service centres,” whilst adding that the network “…has maintained its success with ongoing investment and improvement.”

Commenting on the award for ‘Best Customer Service’, Graeme Oxby, MD of Virgin Mobile at Virgin Mobile commented “Virgin Mobile’s main focus is, and always has been, looking after our customers, old and new. We’re thrilled to have had our reputation as the best providers of customer service in the industry reinforced by this award, our eighth in as many years.”
