Whack a keyboard on – it’s a new phone

Imagine this but with a keyboard attached…

Samsung hasn’t even got the plastic wrapper off its new Galaxy S ’super phone’, and there are already rumours of a new model.

However, in true Sony Ericsson-style form, it’s going to simply take the Galaxy S, a roll of sellotape and a QWERTY keyboard and hey presto! The Samsung Galaxy S Pro.

Cheaper phone bills on the way

Mobile phone charges slashed by Ofcom

Callers to UK mobile phones will see significantly cheaper bills from 2011 says telecoms regulator Ofcom.

Ofcom has called for operators to cut the cost they charge for connecting a call from another network or landline down from 4.3 pence per minute to 0.5p – by 2015.

In 2008 Ofcom launched a voluntary code of practice for ISPs to provide customers with clear indications of the speed they are likely to get on their service. It was a service that was supposed to cut through customer confusion.(...)

Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom announce completion of UK merger

Further to announcements of 8th September 2009, and to the obtaining of all necessary approvals, Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom today announced the successful completion of the UK merger transaction and the formation of the new Joint Venture. Ofcom rules on MTRs

Today has seen a landmark consultation from Ofcom to bring down the charges that mobile networks levy against each other when you make a call. The charges are known in the industry as Mobile Termination Rates.
