Following the signing of a contract between the two companies today, Telefónica O2 Czech Republic has become the general partner of Live Nation. This allows O2’s participation in events organised in the Czech Republic by Live Nation including mega gigs of various world stars. Thanks to the five-year contract, O2 customers will benefit from preference tickets won through various games, contests and other events organised by the operator.

At its meeting today, the Board of Directors of Telefónica O2 Czech Republic, a.s. has taken into account the resignation of Mr. Jaime Smith Basterra from the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company. This planned step will be followed by Mr. Jaime Smith Basterra’s transfer to the Supervisory Board of the Company to replace Mr. Peter Erskine. Mr. Jaime Smith Basterra, who has been holding the position of Chief Executive Officer of O2 Germany since July 2007, remains a member of the Board of Directors until his resignation from membership in the Board of Directors is discussed by the Supervisory Board of the Company at its upcoming meeting to be held in February.

Telefónica O2 Czech Republic, a.s. is pleased to announce its audited financial results for the fiscal year 2007. These results are consolidated and prepared according to International Financial Reporting Standards and fully include the Slovak operation.

“I am pleased that the group’s results for 2007 confirmed the turnaround in trends seen already in 2006. Growth of consolidated revenues continued to be driven by improving performance of the fixed line segment and a solid growth of mobile operation in the Czech Republic. Presented results proved that our strategy to focus on growth areas as broadband, ICT and convergent services and together with the expansion in Slovakia was successful. At the same time, the group managed to maintain its efficiency in operational and capital expenditures, while absorbing the negative impact of Slovak startup. This resulted in OIBDA margin well above the average compared to peers in CEE region. These results are fully in line with our targets communicated at the beginning of the year and allow the Board of Directors to propose a dividend payment of CZK 50 per share.(...)

The country’s leading operator has today joined a top modern multi-service stand for sports, culture, family show and other events. By the signing of a five-year contract with the owner and the operator of the arena, BESTSPORT, Telefónica O2 has won the privilege to use the official title, the O2 arena, as well as numerous other advantages relating to the support of the arena. The logo and graphics of the titular and general partner, Telefónica O2 Czech Republic, will in the next two months be attached to the external and internal spaces of the O2 arena. The change will affect the arena’s web site and the advertising, marketing and ticketing documents. The contract comes in force on 1 March 2008.

Effective as of May 1, 2008 Vice President for Finance of Telefónica O2 Czech Republic Ramon Ros will leave the company. He has been appointed to the position of Chief Financial Officer for O2 UK.  Ramon Ros will be replaced by Jesús Perez de Uriguen who will join Telefónica O2 Czech Republic also in May. Jesús Perez de Uriguen is currently Chief Financial Officer in Telefónica Central America.

 I would personally like to thank Ramon for his commitment and tremendous contribution, not only in the financial area, but also to the total company. I know that his experience, wealth of knowledge of the industry and European market will continue to be a great asset to the businesses within Telefónica O2 Group,(...)
