The Carphone Warehouse has decided that phones aren’t worth anything these days, it’s all about the airtime. So pay £30 for credit and get a free Nokia 1650 phone.

Not only that, but for the first 30 days you can get unlimited texts as well, so Christmas could be a phone-filled paradise for those that like the budget models.

This week, Virgin Mobile, make it even easier for their customers to stay in the loop whilst on the go as they announce the launch of Windows Live Messenger service for their new and existing customers on selected handsets.

Virgin Mobile will provide the service, pre-loaded or downloadable, onto a customer’s mobile, which allows them to interact with all their friends. And it’s free for six months.

Customers can currently interact with different instant messaging websites by downloading software from the web, but they then pay standard data rates to access them over the web on their phones. This new Instant Messenger service is free for six months for participating Virgin Mobile customers.

Who wants to pay for phone applications?

Can Android’s apps beat the iPhone’s?

Those of you that haven’t been on Mars for the last month will know that the new T-Mobile G1 Android phone is coming on 30 October, and from launch there will be 50 free apps for your mobile pleasure.

Many of the free apps are the fruits of Google’s Android Developer Challenge, which was designed to get the top developers from the community exploring the possibilities of the new OS.

We all know that paid-for apps are coming in early 2009, and some of these might make that list, so get your hands on them now while they’re free and hot. Well, not now, in around a week. Otherwise it would be difficult.

London, October 23rd 2008: Orange today announced it has launched an offer for small business customers to take advantage of free broadband when they join Orange on a Solo plan, which is designed for people who work for themselves.

The move builds on Orange’s earlier launch of free broadband for consumer customers following a series of improvements to its broadband network. These improvements have made faster speeds possible, with speeds of up to 8 Meg now the standard across all of Orange’s fixed broadband products.
