O2’s new Litmus app store

O2 has announced the beta launch of its own application centre for mobile applications, as it attempts to get a slice of the Apple pie.

Having seen the success of other app stores from the likes of Google, Apple and Nokia, O2 has lunched a forum where “passionate mobile enthusiasts and application developers can come to together”.

London, UK, 15th December 2008. Orange today announced the launch of a Technocentre in Britain, designed to help develop new and exciting “twenty-first” century services for its customers in the UK and across the Orange footprint.

The Technocentre represents a significant investment in the UK and will open on January 5th 2009. It will expand on the work of other Technocentre facilities around the world and will see UK and Group developers working on products and services for more than 170 million France Telecom customers, including 115 under the Orange brand. The new facility will also work on projects that are specifically aligned to UK customer needs.

The Kogan Agora is coming to Australia in January

New Google Android phone launches at Freshmobile.us

The Kogan Agora is only the second Android phone

Google’s new mobile operating system, Android, is now available on a handset that isn’t the G1.

Only available in Australia, the phone is called the Kogan Agora, and will be available in Q1 of next year – 29 January, to be exact.

Like the G1, the phone will feature a whole host of Google-based applications.

Steve Jobs isn’t the only techie carving gadgets from a solid block of aluminium. Hot on the heels of the new MacBooks comes Porsche Design’s aluminium unibody P’9522.

However, this apparently represents “the timeless and authentic design philosophy of the brand” rather than an attempt to cash on on Apple’s halo effect.

UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Brussels, 3 December 2008 - Telefónica today announced a major new initiative to highlight the contribution that people with disabilities make to the economy.

The Ability Awards, whose mission is to drive societal change by engaging leadership in the case for disability in business, are being launched in Spain next year by Telefónica after years of success in Ireland.

Examining all aspects of employment and customer service, the Awards not only recognise progressive attitudes and practices in organisations that see disability and diversity as a corporate asset and key to success, but also provide an environment for learning and continuous improvement.  Most importantly the awards promote and identify role models that can be replicated.
